Sonello (M.I.N. Software, Leiden, the Netherlands) respects your privacy. This page describes what data we collect and how we use it.
Data we collect. When you sign up — your email address, name and password (the password is stored only as a secure hash; we never see it). While you use the app — your learning progress: which words and modules you've completed, testing and calibration results, and your interface language (Russian or English), so that verification-code emails arrive in it. When you sign up, we also keep a record of your consent: which versions of the Terms of Use and this policy you accepted, when, from which app version and from which IP address. We do not request or store payment details ourselves — subscription payments, if any, are processed by Apple (App Store).
Student and teacher data. Teachers work with Sonello through the website; there are no teacher accounts in the app. For now, our team links a student to a teacher manually, at the request of the student or the teacher. Once linked, the student's progress statistics (learned and difficult words, activity) are visible to the teacher only with the student's explicit consent. You can withdraw consent and unlink your account from a teacher at any time by writing to support@sonello.app.
Where data is stored. All data is stored on servers within the European Union (infrastructure in Germany and cloud storage under EU jurisdiction). We do not transfer personal data outside the EEA.
Who we share data with. We do not sell or share personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is processed only by services necessary to run the app (hosting, delivery of verification-code emails, and support email). If you contact us through "Feedback" in the app, the email automatically includes the app version, iOS version and interface language to help us understand the issue.
Account deletion. You can delete your account in the app: Profile → Account → My account → Delete account. Your account and all related data (learning progress, the link to a teacher, and consent to share statistics) are removed from our servers immediately and permanently, and the email address can be used to sign up again. To record that the deletion took place, we keep a minimal entry (account ID, email, role, date and IP address of the request) for no longer than 90 days, after which it is deleted too.
Your rights. Under GDPR, you can request access to or correction of your data, and delete your account yourself in the app or by writing to support@sonello.app. We respond to such requests within 30 days.
Children and schools. If the app is used by students under 16 as part of lessons with a teacher, obtaining the necessary consent (from parents or the educational institution) is the responsibility of the teacher/school enrolling the students. We do not separately collect data about children under 16 outside the learning process described above.
Changes. We update this policy when the way we process data changes. The version and date are shown at the top of this page. We will notify you of material changes in the app.
Language. This policy is published in English and Russian. In case of any discrepancy, the English version prevails.
Contact us. For any questions about your data, write to support@sonello.app.
